What a custom model of your car actually costs

We sculpt models of individual cars, and we priced every tier of this market to write it down honestly.
There are five very different answers to what a model of your own car costs, and the expensive ones mostly arrive by email quote. This is the honest map of the field, from marketplace makers to museum-grade builders, including where we sit in it and why the waits differ by a factor of twenty.
The market, in tiers
Prices are as published by makers in late 2026, or as reported in coverage of the quote-based shops. Custom work is priced by complexity everywhere, so read these as ranges.

The question to ask before paying anyone
When do I first see what you are going to make? At the budget end the answer is usually after it arrives. In the middle, a digital proof sometimes appears after you have paid. At the top, milestone photos come after a deposit that runs to four figures. The first look almost always costs money.

Why custom models drop the badges
Look closely at the affordable end of this market and you will notice the badges, model scripts and plates are usually left off or simplified, whichever shop makes it. Two honest reasons: lettering at miniature scale reads as noise rather than detail, and marque licensing exists for factory-made replicas, not portraits of your own car. We leave badges and plate characters off for the same reasons. The shape, stance and proportions are what carry the likeness, and at shelf size they carry all of it.

- One clear photo with the whole car in frame, ideally a three-quarter front view or a clean side profile in daylight. A photo of a car you no longer own works exactly as well.
