We sculpt children's drawings into ceramic, and a lot of the people who find us were looking for Crayon Creatures first.
For a decade, Crayon Creatures was the name people knew for turning a child's drawing into a small figurine, and its studio announced the end of the project in 2023. The demand did not end with it. If you arrived here looking for that service, this is an honest map of what exists now, including the one we make and the ones we do not.
What Crayon Creatures was, and what happened
The service took a photo of a child's drawing and returned a small full-colour sandstone figurine of it, usually around four inches tall, for roughly $130. It was covered by Make:, Shapeways and most of the maker press of the 2010s, which is why it still comes up first when people search for this idea.
The studio behind it announced the project's end of life in 2023, and orders closed. The links in those old articles now lead to a goodbye page. What follows is the current version of the same idea, across every format we know of.
The current ways to make a drawing real

Free online tools can turn a photographed drawing into a digital model, and a local maker shop or library maker space can produce it for a fee. Cheapest, most work, most variable results, and genuinely fun if the process is the point.
Which drawings translate best
The same rule holds for every option above: a single character or creature with clear outlines, on plain paper, photographed flat in daylight. Faces, monsters, robots and animals all work. Busy scenes, faint pencil and lined paper translate poorly; those live better in a photo book.
Whatever you choose, resist the urge to tidy the drawing first. The uneven arm is the point, and every service that lets you approve a preview before production exists so you can check the wobble survived.
